The end of an era will happen on Friday at Jack Groce Stadium, on the campus of Watauga High School, as the Watauga/Avery football matchup will come to an end.
The 50th meeting between the programs will be the last, as the Avery Vikings program decided not to renew the series, according to media reports.
Watauga has a 36-13-1 record over Avery dating back to the start of the series in 1969. Watauga will play Pfafftown Reagan in Avery’s place in 2019.
