University of Maine Football to take on Appalachian State in 2026

Orono, Maine — It was announced on Monday, Aug. 18 that the University of Maine football program will travel to Boone, N.C. to take on Appalachian St. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026.

The two sides will square off for the first time since the 2011 FCS playoffs, where the Black Bears came away with a 34-12 victory in the second round of the playoffs.

This will mark the third all-time meeting between the two sides as Maine has taken both games in the series history. This will be the first matchup between the two programs since Appalachian St. moved to the FBS level.

This is the first game announced for the 2026 season for the Black Bears.
