On Sunday, June 15, 2014, Boone Police arrested Leopoldo Ronquillo Mendoza, 29 years-of-age, of Smithfield, NC, on outstanding warrants after a vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped for a traffic violation. Mr. Mendoza was served with warrants from Johnston County, NC, charging him with Felonious Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Misdemeanor Simple Assault, Misdemeanor Assault on a Child Under 12, and Misdemeanor Assault of a Female.
Mr. Mendoza was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond pending a July 15, 2014, appearance in Johnston County District Court.
