Motorist in Avery and Watauga are advised to plan ahead and allow plenty of extra travel time, as three annual events take place starting Thursday.
The running of The Bear takes place on Thursday evening in Linville. Participates from across the country, and world, will take part in the 5 mile foot race, which begins begins at the corner of Hwy 105 and 221 then turns right off 221. More than 700 runners will take part. The race ends near the peak of Grandfather.
Music Fest ‘N Sugar Grove takes place Friday and Saturday at The Historic Cove Creek School, and the 60th annual Grandfather Mountain Highland Games starts on Thursday and run through Sunday.
