Summer Conditions On Tap For Second Weekend Of June 2016

For the second weekend in a row it will feel like summer in the High Country. After reaching the milestone for hottest day of the year last Saturday, high temperatures are once again forecast to reach the low 80s with only a minor threat of rain.

Boone would have to officially reach 84 degrees on either Saturday or Sunday to break/tie into the Top 5 hottest temperatures for either date (June 11 & 12).  The overall county record for June 11 is 86 in Blowing Rock in 1993. Boone has the third and fifth warmest with 85 in 1964 and 84 in 1947. For June 12 Boone holds the overall record of 88 in 2000, followed by 85/1944, 85/1954 and 84/1956.

The hottest day for any June is 94 in Boone on June 29, 1936 followed by:

93 – June 28 1952

93 – June 30 1936

92 – June 13 ,1951

91 – June 18, 1944.
