A structure fire destroyed an unoccupied home undergoing renovations Tuesday night in the Shawneehaw Fire District.
Emergency crews were alerted at approximately 10:30 p.m. Nov. 18 to a fully engulfed structure fire in the Gualtney Road/Elk Hill Road area of Banner Elk.
Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, including Shawneehaw, Foscoe, Cove Creek, Banner Elk, Linville and Beech Mountain. Additional response came from NC Forestry, Mountain Electric, Watauga Medics, Watauga County Rescue Squad, Avery County Fire Marshal's Office, Avery County EMS and Watauga County Emergency Services.
The unoccupied structure on Elk Hill Road was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
