…Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of
southeastern Alleghany and Surry Counties in northwestern North
Carolina, northwestern Stokes County in north central North Carolina,
Wilkes, southeastern Watauga and northwestern Yadkin Counties in
northwestern North Carolina, south central Floyd and southeastern
Carroll Counties in southwestern Virginia, west central Henry County
in south central Virginia and Patrick Counties in southwestern
Virginia through 830 PM EDT…
At 804 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Mabry Mill to near Mountain Park to near
Blowing Rock In Caldwell County. Movement was east at 25 mph.
HAZARD…Winds in excess of 40 mph.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in
ponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying areas, and

hydroplaning.
