Hazardous Weather Outlook Friday, August 21, 2026

The National Weather Service office in Blacksburg, Virginia has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for north central North Carolina, northwest North Carolina, south central Virginia and southwest Virginia, including Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany and Wilkes counties.

Day One — Today and Tonight

There is a Marginal Risk of severe storms this afternoon and evening. There is also a Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall that may lead to flash flooding this afternoon and evening.

Days Two Through Seven — Saturday Through Thursday

There is a low probability for widespread hazardous weather.

Spotter Information Statement

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
