Sheriff Hagaman Warns Against Phone Call Soliciting Money For Sheriff’s Calendar

Last Updated on February 27, 2019 9:55 am

Watauga County Sheriff Len Hagaman is alerting local residents of a soliciting money call scam making the rounds.

Sheriff Hagaman says he himself received a call soliciting money for a “Sheriff’s Office Calendar.” He says that when he stated he was the Sheriff the call was abruptly disconnected.

The Watauga County Sheriff's Office this week received a call from a local resident reporting she had gotten a call from someone claiming to be collecting money for the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office calendar fund.

Sheriff Hagaman would like to pass along that the Sheriff’s Office is not participating in any money raising efforts and that the only time they do is through the NC Sheriffs’ Association. There is a local WCSO Officer's Fund that helps sheriffs officers and detention officers who may experience a real need in crisis (rent, power, or a loss of an immediate family member).
