Seasonal Road Closures on Grandfather & Appalachian Ranger Districts

The Grandfather Ranger District offers a reminder that some roads will seasonally close starting January 2, 2018.

Certain roads are closed to motorized vehicles to help protect wildlife habitat, decrease wildlife disturbance, reduce road maintenance costs, and in specific cases to protect public safety during long bouts of adverse weather. The following roads are closed January 2 through April 2, 2018:

Curtis Creek (482)

Dobson Knob (106)

Table Rock Picnic Area (210B)

New Ginger Cake (496)

Steels Crek (228)

Lost Cove (464A)

Big Chestnut Mountain (198)

Marks Mountain (451)

Schoolhouse Ridge (4068)

Thunder Hole Road (4071)

Brown Mountain OHV (299)

Carrol Creek (in Brown Mt.) (4096)

Pearcy Creek (4101)

Remember, emergency closures due to weather or resource conditions can occur at any time.

 

Pisgah National Forest officials offer a reminder that several roads will be seasonally closed on the Appalachian Ranger District.

On all Forest Service roads, emergency closures due to weather or resource conditions can occur at any time. For current road conditions and status, contact the Appalachian Ranger District at 828-689-9694 Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
