UPDATE 7:52pm From Boone Police:
“Today at approximately 1:30 PM, Boone Police responded to Hillcrest Circle for an armed person suffering emotional distress and some medical issues. Boone Police officers established a perimeter around the scene and initiated negotiations. After approximately 5-1/2 hours, the person voluntarily exited their residence and was transported to Watauga Medical Center for treatment.
There were no injuries from this incident. No criminal charges will be filed.”
All roads in that area are back open.
6:21pm Thursday – According to Boone Police they are currently dealing with a law enforcement situation in the area of Hillcrest Circle in Boone. There is no danger to the general public. Citizens are asked to avoid this area due to road closures.
Police advise they are not able to release any more information at this time.
