Last Updated on June 22, 2015 9:02 pm

A proposed asphalt plant on Rainbow Trail has been denied, and Watauga County Commissioners have voted to enact a moratorium against new asphalt plants in the county.

The moratorium applies to industries such as asphalt plants, cement mixing facilities, quarries & stone crushers, and is in effect until July 31,2015.

The proposed plant on Rainbow Trail, being applied for by Radford Quarries, did not meet High Impact Land Use ordinance requirements.
