NCDOT Awards $3.6 Million for Resurfacing Projects in Avery and Watauga Counties
Today NCDOT announced contracts to resurface 24.3 miles of road in Avery and Watauga counties.
A $3.6 million contract was awarded to Maymead Inc. of Mountain City, Tenn. Work can begin as early as April 30 and be completed by Sept. 30.
The following roads in Watauga County will be resurfaced:
3.5 miles of U.S. 321 in Boone from the N.C. 105 Bypass to U.S. 421 in Vilas;
2.7 miles of Meat Camp Road in Meat Camp from Rich Mountain Road to Mile Post 3.74;
1.9 miles of the N.C. 105 Bypass in Adams from U.S. 321 to N.C. 105;
1.3 miles of N.C. 194 in Villas from U.S. 321 to the new bridge project limits;
0.9 miles of Faculty Avenue in Boone from Junaluska Road to U.S. 321;
0.8 miles of U.S. 321/421 in Boone from Coffey Street to Straight Street;
0.8 miles of Winkler’s Creek Road in Boone from Russ Cornett Road to the Boone town limits;
0.5 miles of U.S. 321 in Boone from Faculty Avenue to U.S. 221; and
0.2 miles of Community College Drive in Boone from the N.C. 105 Bypass to the Caldwell Community College parking lot.
The following roads in Avery County will be resurfaced:
4.5 miles of Hickory Nut Gap Road in Banner Elk from Meadow View Drive to N.C. 194 in Newland;
3.5 miles of N.C. 181 in Montezuma from U.S. 221 to N.C. 194 in Newland;
2.3 miles of Spanish Oak Road in Newland from N.C. 194 to Cow Camp Road;
1.2 miles of U.S. 221 in Crossnore from the Forestry Service to the new pavement south of the intersection of U.S. 221 and Mount Pleasant Road; and
0.3 miles of U.S. 221 in Linville from the bridge over the Linville River to N.C. 181.
This is one of 30 contracts totaling $82.6 million awarded for highway and bridge projects across North Carolina.
