As part of Severe Weather Awareness week in North Carolina, the National Weather Service and local broadcasters will conduct a statewide tornado drill.
The drill will be held at 9:30 a.m. on March 7. The drill will be in the form of a required monthly test on all NOAA weather radio and public alert systems. The alarm test will activate the State Emergency Alert System and be carried by local radio broadcasters.
State officials advise residents and business to use the drill as an opportunity to plan for the threat of a tornado.
