Multi-Agency DWI Checking Station Conducted Friday Night

Boone Police hosted a multi-agency DWI checking station on Friday night during the first of several, “click it or ticket” campaigns through the Governor's Highway Safety Program.

The checking station ultimate goal, located on US 321 near the intersection of Fairway Drive, was to reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes and fatalities through education, prevention and enforcement, Sgt. Geoff Hayes with Boone Police shares with WataugaOnline.com

Attending agencies included; Boone Police, NCSHP, NC DMV, Watauga County Sheriff's Office, Banner Elk Police, Beech Mountain Police, Appalachian State University Police, Blowing Rock Police and the NC Forensic Tests for Alcohol Branch from the Department of Health and Human Services. The event was scheduled for 4 hours and concluded around 1:30.
