An investigation into a suspected homicide has resulted in an arrest and formal charges.
Investigators with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office have arrested Freddie Ray Skeens, 68 y/o from Slabtown Road in Mountain City. Mr. Skeens has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder and one count of Tampering with Evidence in connection with the death of Bob Stanley.
On Saturday August 9, 2025, deputies responded to Stanley’s residence, where he was discovered deceased. Investigators determined Mr. Stanley had died as a result of a gunshot wound.
Skeens was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $1 million bond. Skeens is scheduled to appear in Johnson County Court on August 13, 2025.
