Minimal damge to home in Zionville after Sunday fire

At approximately 2 pm on Sunday, February 15th, Watauga County Communications received a fire call from an resident at the 100 block of Cranberry Trail in Zionville.

The two occupants were able to make a safe exit from the home. There were no reported injuries and the occupants were checked at the scene by EMS.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, caused by an electrical short. Damage to the structure was minimal.

Responding units included Zionville, Cove Creek, Boone Fire, Watauga County Rescue Squad, Watauga County EMS, Watauga County Fire Marshal’s Office, and Blue Ridge Energy.

 The Fire Marshal would like to remind you to plug surge protectors directly into wall outlets, keeping the area around wires and plugs clear. Be sure to maintain clear entries and exits, and close doors when sleeping to keep fire from spreading.
