A series of meetings will be held on housing in Watauga County. The goal of the series will be to identify root causes of our housing problems and identify ways that the County can address these problems.
The topic of the first meeting will be an overview of the economics of housing and homelessness in Watauga County. The meeting will be on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. in the Commissioners’ Board Room located in the Watauga County Administration Building at 814 West King Street, Boone, North Carolina.
This is not a Board of Commissioners meeting; however, Commissioner Ray Russell and Commissioner Todd Castle will be in attendance as well as the following guest speakers: Mr. Joe Furman will speak on the economic state of the housing market; Ms. Lindsay Sullivan will speak on affordable housing initiatives; and Mr. Todd Carter will speak on homelessness. The meeting will include a period of comments, questions, and responses that are relevant only to the presenter’s topics.
