West Jefferson, NC- Sheriff B. Phil Howell announces a male subject, Travis Kent Casimir, received a gunshot in the chest area last night in the Beaver Creek area of Ashe County.
On Monday, October 16, 2023, Ashe County 911 Dispatch received a call at approximately 9:16 pm from a female subject, Jena Shalane Barajas, stating she had a male subject in her home with a gunshot wound. Officers from West Jefferson arrived on scene at 9:21 pm followed by Sheriff’s deputies soon after.
Ashe Medics worked with the male subject and transported him to Ashe Memorial at 9:38 pm. Mr. Casimir was transported to Wake Forrest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem where we have been told he will have multiple surgeries for treatment.
Ashe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are currently investigating and working the scene.
