BOONE – Longer delays are possible on N.C. 105 late Tuesday as an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor continues a bridge replacement project.
Crews from Wright Brothers Construction will close N.C. 105 near Broadstone Road around 7 p.m. for blasting operations.
The closure will remain until debris is cleared from the road. Turn around locations will be provided if the closure extends into Wednesday morning. Commercial vehicles and trucks can use these detours around the closure:
From Boone:
- Take U.S. 321 South to Lenoir
- Take U.S. 64 West/N.C. 18 South to Morganton
- Take N.C. 181 North to Pineola
- U.S. 221 North to Linville to N.C. 105
From Linville:
- U.S. 221 South to Pineola
- Take N.C. 181 South to Morganton
- Take U.S. 64 East/N.C. 18 North to Lenoir
- Take U.S. 321 North to Boone to N.C. 105
Crews will continue typical blasting operations from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Brief closures are expected while workers clear debris from the road.
The work is part of a $48.7 million project to replace the existing bridge and improve the highway’s intersection with Broadstone Road.
