Residents and motorist in the Hillcrest Circle area of Boone were impacted by a law enforcement stand off on Thursday.
Shane Robbins, Public Information Officer with Boone Police, tells WataugaRoads.com that at approximately 1:30pm Boone Police responded to Hillcrest Circle for an armed person suffering emotional distress and some medical issues.
Robbins went on to say that officers established a perimeter around the scene and initiated negotiations. After approximately 5-1/2 hours, the person voluntarily exited their residence and was transported to Watauga Medical Center for treatment. There were no injuries from this incident. No criminal charges will be filed.
