Monday January 30
5:25am – Roads county wide are snow covered and slick, according to incoming social media reports and law enforcement. With high winds and blowing snow, conditions are not expected to improve during the early morning hours. Travel is not recommended but if necessary caution is advised.
8:10am – Main roads have improved to varying degrees, according to incoming reports over the last hour. Most main roads have at least the tire travel paths clear, but blowing snow could still cause issues with both that and with visibility. Secondary roads and gravel roads remain snow covered and slick.
11:05am – Much improved travel conditions than this morning. Main roads are great shape after NCDOT clearing operations this morning. Secondary roads are also in much better shape thanks to NCDOT and sunshine, but be advised of continued possible slick areas. Gravel roads are still snow covered for the most part.
