Monday January 12

Tuesday January 13

No traffic impacts, limited construction ops on 321 in Blowing Rock today due to weather. Call 828-964-3260 for project information.

4:10pm – Getting a report some icy surfaces in Boone already, a porch and downspout. It's currently 30 at the Watauga Medical Center reporting station. Fog also an issue in some locations. No reported travel issues currently.

4:47pm – getting a few more reports of some non treated surfaces iced over already – porches, decks, steps etc. No reported travel issues currently.

5pm – getting report of the road behind Hardin Park School and Boone United Methodist Church is slick.

6:40pm – foggy conditions are the only reported travel issues at this time.

Wednesday January 14

5:40am – Getting report that the back roads in Boone are slick this morning.

5:42am – according to Watauga County Communications office roads on the east side of the county are in worse shape than on the west side. Many, if not most, side roads on the east side are slick. Also 321 in Blowing Rock is slick at this hour along with patchy slick spots on 421.

5:51am – Boone Police dispatch office says that the only noted slick areas in town currently are mostly parking lots.

6:55am – No reported accidents via scanner so far this morning. Remember that most side roads on the east side of the county are slick.

7:35am – Continued slick side roads in the northern & eastern side of the county per officials with Watauga County Schools. Main roads are mostly ok still, no reported accidents via scanner at this time.
