May 3, 2017 – Energizing the final stages of a major reliability project to benefit over 6,000 Blue Ridge Energy members in the Blowing Rock and Aho communities of Watauga County may cause momentary interruption of electricity for some members late Thursday and Friday nights.
As final work is conducted, electric service could be interrupted from just a few minutes to up to two hours starting at midnight Friday to approximately 2 a.m. Saturday. Additionally, some members may experience momentary “blinks” from midnight Thursday until 2 a.m. Friday during preparation for steps of energizing lines and systems Friday night.
Members are asked to please be aware that in case of severe weather or other factors beyond the cooperative’s control, the project could be delayed. Members would be notified if this occurs.
“This is a major project to improve reliability and meet the needs of southern Watauga County,” said John Coffey, Chief Operating Officer of Blue Ridge Energy. “We appreciate our member’s patience as we work quickly and safely on the final steps of this important reliability project.”
This week, Blue Ridge Energy is calling members who may be affected with an automated voice message.
