HIGH COUNTRY – Traffic is expected to increase across the High Country over the coming days as local schools and colleges return from winter break and work resumes on the US 105 bridge project.
School Return Dates
Today, Monday, January 5: Watauga County Schools
Tuesday, January 7: Johnson County (Tennessee) Schools
Wednesday, January 8: Ashe County Schools, Avery County Schools, Caldwell Community College
Monday, January 13: Appalachian State University, Lees-McRae College
US 105 Bridge Project
Construction work resumes next week after the holiday break. Motorists should expect typical construction zone delays. Brief road closures are possible Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for debris clearing.
