BOONE – Construction crews have returned to the Howard Street Revitalization Project after a brief holiday break, according to the Downtown Boone Development Association.

December saw continued progress on underground infrastructure along Howard Street. Crews focused on stormwater and sewer upgrades around the Estes House and the alleyway between the Estes House and Fairfield Apartments before continuing toward Depot Street.

Key milestones included installing 79 additional feet of stormwater pipe, completing a new manhole, and placing a base layer of asphalt in the Appalachian Street intersection.

Stormwater installation will continue along Howard Street toward Depot Street. Once stormwater work in this phase is completed, crews will transition to water line infrastructure upgrades.
