Temperatures in the mid 80's, and possibly hotter, will be the weather story for the coming weekend.
The National Weather Service (NWS) says that near 90 degree temperatures can't be ruled out completely for some mountain locations. The hotter temperatures are not expected however to break any daytime or nighttime records locally, but may break into the Top 5 for their respective dates.
The all time highest temperatures for Watauga are:
96 – July 10, 1936
93 – July 28, 1952
93 – July 27, 2005
92 – July 22, 1993
92 – July 29, 1956
