A member of a local family living in the path of the Horton Fire has documented the firefighting efforts. Shannon Coffey shares with WataugaOnline.com that the fire came within feet of her father's home and shop in the Sampson community. She added that firefighters were at his house from the second night of the fire (Tuesday Nov 22, 2016) and they were still keeping an eye on his place as of Friday night. She noted that “all of our property was burnt”, but they were grateful that no homes or buildings were lost.
Below is a collection of some of the many photos she took since Tuesday through Friday, and granted permission for WataugaOnline.com to post. Both a slideshow format and larger versions of the photos follow. Left clicking on any larger photos will open it in a new window.
