Flooding and what is next

The heavy rain led to flooding in parts of the High Country Sunday. N.C. Highway 194 at Broadstone Road in Valle Crucis was closed due to flooding Sunday morning. The Weather Service had a Flood Watch in effect for Watauga, Ashe and surrounding counties through Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg posted a map of 24-hour rainfall from Isaias between 8 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. The agency said the graphic captures the bulk of the rain, and that an official storm-total graphic for the entire event will be available Monday. We will share it when it is released.

Do not drive on flooded roads, and use extra caution on mountain roads where debris or landslides are possible.
