Highway Patrolman Charged With DWI & Hit & Run In Boone

A now former North Carolina Highway Patrolman has charges against himself, after fleeing from Boone Police on Friday.

Matthew Grogan fled the scene of the Cook-Out in Boone after striking a concrete barrier and another vehicle in the drive-thru, according to multiple published reports.

Grogan, who was off duty at the time, then fled the scene and lead Boone Police on a short chase before being arrested. Grogan's blood alcohol content was reportedly .19, according to one report. Grogan has since resigned from the Highway Patrol.

      He has a listed court date of March 30, 2017.
