Today is the beginning of the heat that's had a hold of the middle portion of the country. For some perspective on the heat nationwide there have been 1,015 records set in the previous week. On Tuesday alone 251 new daily high temperature records were set according to an Associated Press article.
The record for high temps to compare to this coming Friday-Monday: June 29 – 94/Boone in 1936, June 30/Boone – 93 in 1936, July 1/Boone – 89 in 1968, July 2 – 90/Blowing Rock in 2002. *Information per State Climate Office*
