Tree pollen levels in the High Country remain High to Very High this week, with some relief possible as conditions change through Tuesday.
WeatherBug's Boone pollen index stands at 11.3 out of 12 — rated High — with Elm, Maple, and Cedar/Juniper as the top contributors. AccuWeather rates Monday's tree pollen as Very High (7 out of 10) for the Boone area, with westerly winds at 7 mph and gusts to 18 mph continuing to carry pollen through the region.
WeatherBug's forecast calls for pollen levels to fall slightly on Tuesday as rising relative humidity and weaker winds arrive, but counts will remain in the Very High range. Ragweed, grass, and mold are all rated Low.
Tips to manage symptoms this week:
Keep windows and doors closed, especially on windy days
Avoid outdoor activity in the early morning hours when pollen counts are highest
Shower and change clothes after time outdoors
Take allergy medication before symptoms peak, not after
Vacuum at least once a week with a HEPA filter vacuum
