Hickory native who won NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor

A Hickory native who found national fame by winning the fifth season of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” is facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to the Hickory Police Department (HPD), on April 15, 2025, they received an Internet Crimes Against Children cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding child sexual abuse material.

During the initial investigation, it was discovered that the account associated with the tip belonged to 53-year-old Jonathan David Reep. The investigation led to a search warrant at the location linked to the IP address. Seized were electronic devices, and digital forensic analysis of the devices and other online communications was completed, according to HPD.

After submitting the case to the Catawba County District Attorney’s office, it was presented to the Grand Jury of Catawba County on Tuesday, September 2nd. A true bill of indictment was issued for Reep for the following charges:

• Second Degree Sexual Exploitation Of Minor (One Count)

• Third Degree Sexual Exploitation Of Minor (Nine Counts)

He was arrested on Friday and received a $260,000 secured bond, and was transported to the Catawba County Detention Facility.

In the entertainment world, Reep is also known for his roles on television shows “Eastbound & Down” and appearances on Comedy Central
