A fundraising effort has begun for retiring Watauga County Sheriff’s Deputy K9 Tanner. Shawn Peele, Chief of Hospital Police for ARHS, says that Tanner was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his right leg. Due to his medical condition, Tanner will require surgery and chemo treatments in order to survive.
Peele is assisting with fundraising efforts for Tanner, who is 9 years old and has been a member of the WCSO for 7 years.
A go fund me page has been set up to help collect funds to provide medical care for Tanner. The Pet Place in Boone is partnering with this cause and to help sponsor Tanner for this urgent medical treatment.
If there are any questions that you have please feel free to reach out to Shawn Peele or Deputy Wes Hawkins from the Watauga County Sheriff’s office.
