Looks like we are in store for the first real shot of cold air this weekend. Starting today the winds are expected to pick up with gusts as high as 30mph leading to low temps this weekend in the 30s. The National Weather Service mentions that Frost/Freeze conditions are expected early Sunday and Monday mornings.
And yes there is talk of some snow. Brad Panovich from WCNC TV points out that on the NAM model a few mountain peaks that could get some snow Sunday morning
Since the early part of the week AccuWeather has mentioned snow for parts of the Appalachians in this article and graphic.
The winds and colder temps will surely have an effect on the leaf season, leaving many more trees almost bare by the end of the weekend.
