The public visitation to pay respects to Dr. Billy Graham began on Monday at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte.

Among the attendees were President George W. Bush and wife Laura Bush. The 43rd President and former First Lady spent about 30 minutes inside the Graham Family Homeplace. After their visit President Bush gave these remarks, “If there’s such a thing as a humble shepherd of the Lord, Billy Graham is that person. I am unbelievably blessed to have met him. I also had the honor of bringing my Mother and Dad’s greetings to Franklin and the family. Billy Graham and Dad were great buddies, and I know he wished he could come too. He’s not moving around too much these days, but his spirit and heart are here. God bless Billy Graham.”

Franklin Graham, President and CEO of Samaritan's Purse based in Boone, followed the President's comments by thanking North Carolinians for the outpouring of love and support. He also noted that the procession drive from Asheville to Charlotte is something he would never forget.
