The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a
* Flood Warning for Small Streams in…
Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
* Until 1000 PM EDT
* At 701 PM EDT, Minor to moderate flooding will continue across
portions of Watauga county for a few more hours yet as a result of
excessive rainfall earlier today on saturated ground. The Watauga
River is currently in flood at Sugar Grove with a stage of 11.0
feet. Flood stage is 8.0 feet. Other small creeks and streams
across the county will likely be near or above bankful as well for
a few more hours.

Foscoe…
Sugar Grove…
and Todd.

Laurel Fork…

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
