The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

* Flood Advisory for…
Western Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…

* Until 845 PM EDT.

* At 546 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen in the areas with the heaviest rain.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Beech Mountain…
Foscoe…
Sugar Grove…
Beech Mountain In Avery County…
Seven Devils…
Silverstone…
and Rominger.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
by calling toll free at 1…8 6 6…2 1 5…4 3 2 4. Reports and
