The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

* Flood Advisory for eastern Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina until 5:15 PM EDT

* At 315 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to redeveloping thunderstorms in the Advisory area. An inch of rain has fallen across the Advisory area, and an additional 1 to 2 inches will be possible as thunderstorms re-develop and move over the same areas. This will cause ponding and minor flooding in low water crossings as well as urban flooding near the Boone Mall area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Blowing Rock…
Deep Gap…
and Sugar Grove.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
by calling toll free at 1…8 6 6…2 1 5…4 3 2 4. Reports and
pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service
Blacksburg Facebook page and on Twitter.
