First Frost Of 2018 Fall Season Likely This Week

Last Updated on October 15, 2018 7:40 pm

A noticeable weather change in the High Country this week will likely bring the first frost of the season.

With lows forecast in the upper 30s on Wednesday night and Thursday night, the National Weather Service says frost will be in the forecast for much of the area both nights.

The average date for the first fall freeze for the High Country is October 15, according to the map below compiled by the NWS Raleigh office.

Recent non-seasonal temperatures have delayed, or nulled, the peak leaf weekend but with cooler temperatures this week some fall color could begin popping. Visit the Fall Color Page for updates.
