The Hunger & Health Coalition's Empty Bowls event made its long-awaited return Saturday — and the High Country showed up in a big way.
The event raised $12,500, with more than 14 restaurants providing soup. This year's new addition — soup flights — helped guests sample multiple options. Crowd favorites included the west African peanut soup from F.A.R.M Cafe, chili from Troy's Diner, brunswick stew from Fizz Ed, and lemon chicken and herb soup from Lost Province.
Thanks went to sponsors Republic Services and Wisdom and Worth, local potters, high school art departments, participating restaurants, singer-songwriter Pressley Laton, and faith community members who donated desserts and drinks.
The next Empty Bowls event is scheduled for March 20, 2027.
