Earthquake between Blowing Rock and Lenoir on Sunday morning

An earthquake was recorded between Blowing Rock and Lenoir on Sunday morning.

This quake measured 2.2 magnitude and was centered 8.1 miles north-northwest of Cedar Rock, 9.3 miles north of Lenoir, and 14.3 miles southeast of Boone at 3:25 am, according to the United States Geological Survey.  

This is the fifth earthquake recorded locally since June 18th. The other four were near Sparta in Alleghany County.
