*Update Monday 2:42pm – The USGS is reporting an additional earthquake on Sunday night.*
Many residents across the High Country and foothills were awaken early Monday morning to the rumbling of an earthquake.
The 3.0 magnitude quake was centered 9 miles north of Lenoir, 14 miles southeast of Boone, 22 miles north northeast of Morganton according to the USGS. The quake occurred at 1:44am.
