Darin R. Church of Deep Gap has officially announced his candidacy for Watauga County Sheriff, bringing more than a quarter-century of law enforcement experience to the race.
Campaign Platform Focuses on Leadership and Accountability
Church, a Watauga County native, emphasized his commitment to serving the community with “integrity, honesty, and accountability” in his campaign announcement. His platform centers on three primary objectives:
Strengthening the Sheriff's Office through enhanced leadership, comprehensive training programs, and elevated professionalism standards across the department.
Rebuilding Community Trust between residents and the Sheriff's Office through transparent operations and consistent engagement.
Ensuring Transparency and Responsibility in all aspects of office operations, grounded in faith-based principles and ethical service.
Experience and Values
With 26 years of law enforcement experience, Church stressed his understanding of both the community he seeks to serve and the values that guide local residents. He described himself as “a man of strong Christian values” and said those principles shape his approach to leadership and decision-making.
“I take my oath seriously and am committed to upholding the rule of law with fairness and respect for all,” Church stated in his announcement.
Looking Ahead
Church said he is dedicated to building a safer, stronger Watauga County while restoring confidence in the office. He is asking for community support as the campaign moves forward.
