Valle Crucis, North Carolina — Following a formal letter of intent issued to the Watauga County Board of Commissioners, and with support from the Watauga Riverkeeper and the Valle Crucis Community Park, the Valle Crucis Community Council (VCCC) invites all community members to a public meeting to discuss the future of the soon-to-be old Valle Crucis School property. The event will take place on May 30th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the cafeteria of the Valle Crucis School, located at 2998 Broadstone Rd, Sugar Grove, NC 28679.
This meeting is a key step in the collaborative process to determine the best use of the historic site. “The community's involvement is crucial as we explore the potential transformations of the Valle Crucis School property,” said VCCC Chair Walter Browning.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about potential options for the property after the Valle Crucis School moves out of the building, ask questions, and offer their insights during drop-in sessions. Brief, formal presentations will be given at 6:45 PM, 7:15 PM, and 7:45 PM, outlining the proposed options for redevelopment. Community members are encouraged to participate at any point during the event to share their perspectives. All are welcome, whether or not they live within the Valle Crucis Planning Area. “We are committed to a transparent process that respects the rich history of Valle Crucis and engages the collective vision of our residents,” added Julie Gates, a VCCC member.
