…EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM TUESDAY TO NOON
EST WEDNESDAY…

  • WHAT…For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low
    as 10 below expected. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously
    cold wind chills as low as 20 below expected Wednesday morning.
  • WHERE…In North Carolina, Ashe and Watauga Counties. In Virginia,
    Grayson and Bath Counties.
  • WHEN…For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 11 AM EST Tuesday. For
    the Extreme Cold Warning, from 10 PM Tuesday to noon EST Wednesday.
  • IMPACTS…The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could
    result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Frostbite and
    hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these
    temperatures. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with
    prolonged exposure.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
