ASHEVILLE, NC (WBTV) – A Boone man says he was enjoying time in the North Carolina mountains when he saw a Sasquatch and his little dog chased the beast away.

It happened Thursday morning by a cabin Eric Walters was renting with his family near Asheville, he told WBTV.

“Our neighbors told us there was some bear activity and to be cautious,” he said. “So, when walked the trails I've kept my Yorkie, Zippy very close.”

Thursday morning, Walters says he thought I saw a bear and started filming on his cell phone.

“I quickly realized it was not a bear, but a Sasquatch,” Walters said. “Zippy could tell I was scared and got so riled up that he got loose and went after it.”

Walters calls Zippy a “brave little guy,” saying he chased the Sasquatch away.

“[He] saved me from a possible encounter,” Walters said. “I love him more than ever.”

Walters initially shared his story with the Asheville Citizen-Times Thursday morning and says he knows people are skeptical.

“I've read that some people think I was a little over dramatic, but how would you react to a Sasquatch?” he asks.

He wants to reiterate how amazing his dog, Zippy, was in the situation.

“Yorkies are small in size but bigger than even a Sasquatch in heart.”
