BOONE HOLIDAY PARADE SET FOR SATURDAY EVENING

The annual Town of Boone Holiday Parade will take place Saturday, December 13 at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Boone.

Families are invited to find a spot along King Street to watch floats, cars, marchers, and performers light up downtown decked out in their festive best. Free hot chocolate and treats will be available on the Jones House lawn immediately prior to and during the parade.

Santa Claus will make an appearance at the end of the parade.

Road Closures

Affected streets will close promptly at 6:00 p.m. King Street will be closed between Poplar Grove Connector and Hardin Street/Blowing Rock Road. Side streets will be blocked off along the parade route, including Green Street, Straight Street, Water Street, Burrell Street, Linney Street, Depot Street, Grand Boulevard, Appalachian Street, College Street, Cherry Drive, and Coffey Street.

Roads will remain closed until parade traffic has safely passed through. Drivers should use Highway 105 Bypass as an alternate route around downtown Boone.

Parking Information

Parking will be free after 3:00 p.m. in downtown metered spaces and lots. Additional public parking is available in ASU public lots — visitors should pay attention to signage.

The Watauga Social Services and Health Department lots are reserved for parade staging only and are not available for public parking.

Vehicles parked along King Street when the parade begins will not be allowed to move until the parade has passed. Drivers should use caution and watch for pedestrians before and after the event.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to find parking and enjoy downtown shopping and dining.
