BOONE, NC – To kick off the summer tourism season and generate visitor traffic, the Western North Carolina Chamber Business Coalition is pleased to announce #WNCOpenforBusiness week Monday, June 2 – Sunday, June 8, 2025.
While highlighting events across the region during this specially designated week, local Chambers of Commerce throughout Western North Carolina will be working throughout the summer with event organizers, partner agencies, and local businesses to highlight the region’s continued comeback from the impacts of Hurricane Helene. The goal is to show that businesses, popular travel destinations, festivals, and other events are open and ready to welcome visitors, which will provide further help toward stimulating the local economies throughout the region.
“This effort is another sign of the connectedness of our region and the importance Chambers, tourism, and economic development organizations across the region are placing in telling the story of where we are today,” said David Jackson, President/CEO of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are eager to share visual representations that show our communities each celebrating the progress that’s been made over the last few months. This week also can serve as a reminder our guests and locals that a responsible and successful recruitment of visitors to the region this summer is going to play an important part in the comeback story for us in the High Country and throughout Western North Carolina.”
“The unity of this region demonstrates our resilience and gives us a great path toward positive progress,” said Robin Miller, President/CEO of the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to see visitors returning to Blowing Rock for the summer and look forward to sharing the images of excitement and togetherness that are being echoed by communities across our entire region.”
Related images, videos, and other content will be shared by WNC Chambers of Commerce on social media and through traditional media outlets throughout the summer. Chambers are encouraging businesses to use the #WNCOpenforBusiness hashtag on any content they share connected to this theme throughout the summer. Several signature events throughout the region will be staging symbolic ribbon cuttings and other celebrations to show a visual representation of perseverance excitement as communities across the region move into this key period.
