Linemen with Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation had power fully restored by 6:30 p.m. after Tuesday’s icy weather caused trees to fall on power lines and affect electricity to 5,000 cooperative members.

Outages began occurring at 6 a.m. and continued throughout the day until temperatures began warming at mid-day and afternoon. Winds gusts are forecast for tonight in the Blue Ridge service area and members are asked to be prepared if outages occur tonight. The fastest way to report an outage is by calling the cooperative’s PowerLine at 1-800-448-2383.
